The Gaza Strip – Stripping Away
With so much now in the news, with so many conflicting reports, where should we be, what should we think?
Religions against religions, faith against faith, belief against belief; and in the middle, the people.
What is belief, but a thought perpetrated by others? Does a baby in the womb know of its heritage? Does a child being born understand where it arrives?
Conflicts, indoctrinations, beliefs, and religions; unbeknown to the unborn, they are brought into the world facing opposition. The Israelis want to eradicate Hamas, and Hamas want to eradicate the Israelis; Muslims against Jews, Jews against Muslims; a people’s belief, what will it cost them?
What has it cost in the past; Egyptians times, Roman times, the world at war?
Faiths are taught to give people hope and stability, but when religion is used to manipulate and shape a polarised society, what comes but war; a conflict between two opposing faiths?
How many people on either side fully understand what shapes their lives? How many people question their leaders?
Some are awakening to the fact of choices, others just blindly follow.
How does one lead so many? Why do so many follow one?
A sales pitch, a promise, the offer of a better life; how many grave yards are full of martyrs, assuming the martyrs had left anything of themselves to bury?
Time ticks by, the world keeps on spinning, and still unnecessary conflict continues. People are shaped, thoughts twisted, people’s beliefs are tested; people are put in harm’s way, surrender themselves to the cause, and give of their lives; how many of us understand or know what our life’s journey is all about?
So many worker bees, so many willings, so many sacrifices; where it all began was with power, and power breeds control.
Has power gone to their heads? Do they desire too much control?
What becomes of the innocent who stand by?
They say power corrupts, corrupts absolutely; where do power and faith function together?
Who controls, who influences, who uses faith and religion to achieve their own ends and fulfil their own personal desires?
Follow whatever, believe in wherever; but should we give blindly, without explanation?
The Gaza Strip, stripping away, removing people, so that others can have.
Either side in conflict, is there justification for what either side wants?
Who is right? Who is wrong?
When so many people lose their lives, is there such a thing?
