AI – Have You Noticed?

 
Where is it? What is it? Who is it?

Do you know AI? Do you recognise the words artificial intelligence?
Are you beginning to accept them?

A little innocuous series of letters; artificially intelligent capabilities.
They say the games industry is driving AI, no pun intended; the chip maker NVIDIA is leading the way, their stock values have gone through the roof. Others who can say that their chips are artificial intelligence enabled, will surely follow. Tech giants the world over are chasing the AI banner; it will help people they say, it will enable them, things will become easier.

A new storage facility, spread across 309,000 square metres, adjacent to the A180 near South Killingholme in the UK, is wanting to become a leader in artificial intelligence.
How can anybody, how can anyone, have any leadership whatsoever when artificial intelligence is either artificial by its very nature, in other words a con-job, a play on words, or it is as they claim, truly artificially intelligent; in other words, it does not need us, to think for it.

For those who remember the film Terminator, with Arnold Schwarzenegger as the main character, people will remember what happened there; they placed the human race’s fate in the hands of artificially intelligent computers. On a certain day at a certain time, Cyberdyne / Skynet became self-aware, and from that moment on, from that point in time, the human race became surplus to requirements.

With AI now being flaunted as the new way forward, what will stop that from happening in real life?
A film, a movie, is make believe, a conjuring of the imagination. If AI is deployed everywhere, and AI is used by everyone, when the day comes that it becomes truly artificially intelligent in its belief and acceptance, what will you have given away?

If we trust our lives to computers, if we give of ourselves to tech, where will the jobs be?
How many people will be working? How many people will be needed?

AI, on your head be it.
