Is It Possible To Run Away From Yourself?
Is it possible? Can we run away from us?
Can we break free of what enslaves us?
How many people are trying to?
Can you break free of your shadow? Is a shadow detachable?
Once we come into the light, our shadows are with us, they constantly haunt us; if we look carefully we can see them. What purposes do our shadows serve?
Are they the darkness of us, the skulking side of our minds?
Things have been written, things have been portrayed, doubt has been cast; should we believe what they say, that we are souls eternal? Do we carry on, continue into the darkness?
What awaits us, when we awaken into sleep?
They say we can leave our bodies, astral travel to some; others say Earthly bounds are released when we enter the sleep pattern. How far can we travel? Where can we go?
The edge of our imagination awaits us; all we have to do is dream.
We dream of better things, prosperous times, we hope for better futures; once we enter the dream state, all things are possible to us. Our dreams await us, welcoming us into the unknown.
We are challenged between reality and fantasy, fear and jubilation; we forget our shadows, forget our constraints; we are free to go as far as our imaginations will let us.
Stretching out into the unknown, our mind’s eye reaches; is it possible that our dreams are of things from the past?
Do we dream of the future? Do we exist in different dimensions, different realms? When we enter sleep, do we go through a porthole, venturing out into the unknown?
Our freedom awaits us, in the darkness of the night; laying our heads down, we hope we do not fall.
The subconscious mind is a powerful thing; it can convince, it can scare, it can betray; how many have awoken into a cold sweat? How many have dreamt that they could fly? How many never awaken from a dream, perpetually trapped in the make-belief of their life?
Awake or asleep, asleep or awake;
how do we know?
