Is Mental Health An Ailment Or A Reaction?
How many of us today are affected? How many of us today suffer with mental health? Is mental health an ailment or is it really a reaction to a series of events?
How many of us go unnoticed? How many of us are suffering in the darkness?
Many things can affect our mental stability, our emotional security.
Look at people in war-torn countries; refuges, by the tens of thousands losing their homes, their jobs, their lively hoods; some even losing their families or family members.
Some people struggle with financial worries, some people have a hard time living in their families, others experience the effects of war.
Do our minds have any place to go? Do they have anywhere to hide?
Is there security within our thoughts? Where would we find these things? How would we know they are there? Who can support us when we are alone? Suffering is everywhere you look.
Where you live, where other people live, who really talks about it today? Are we not all suffering the impacts and the ill effects of modern day life; the extra strain, the extra burdens placed upon us?
If we were in Syria, if we were in Gaza, if we were in Libya, to name but a few, what would we be thinking? How are these people coping? Are they coping? What is there for them tomorrow, other than what was of yesterday? How are their minds coping with what they experience?
We all suffer, every day of our lives, with some sort of impact upon us and our mental health.
No one can really escape it, even the happiest of people have to close their eyes and when the eyes close, the mind is free to roam.
How many of us can close off the outside world? How many of us have the freedom to do so? The papers, the media, the news channels, constantly informing us that the world is imploding; fires, storms, floods, war, loss of life is everywhere.
It all impacts us, even though sometimes we do not immediately feel it.
This is where the darkness can creep in. This is where the subconscious mind works in the background.
Is this not what PTSD is? Only after the fact do these people feel the effects.
Do we not all feel the effects of something?
Are we all not suffering from some form of mental health in our lives today?
