Your Hubris Is Ignorance
Every day of our lives we do things that, unbeknown to us, actually help others.
But what reward do we receive? Are we used? Are we abused? Can anybody answer that?
If we give of ourselves freely, we do so not seeking reward. But if we are persuaded, if we are manipulated, do we understand?
Can it be said that the return to us is worth our time?
The constant of life, the need, the desire, leaves us open, but open to what?
How many seek to abuse kindness, to abuse generosity? How many seek to take advantage of the willing, the willingness to spend time, without reward? How many go unnoticed?
People spend time, they take time out of their lives, to care for others, unbeknown to society. Suffering is everywhere we look and yet, these people still give of themselves.
Are they unsung heroes, angels in disguise or just born of a different breed?
Some may say from a bygone era.
But to most, life carries with it a heavy burden. Too high a price, for anything less than total commitment, just will not do.
There are the givers and there are the takers.
How do we know which is which?
Have our times changed so much that we no longer notice the people in the streets? Are we just too busy staring at our gismos, our smart phones, to notice what is all around us? Are we now so caught up in the rat race of life that what goes on around us is unfelt by the many?
But are not the many, the people who are feeling the pain, they just don’t notice it, in this crazy world of ‘must haves’ and gain?
If you fell on hard times, if difficulty knocked at your door, would you want someone to think of you, to care?
Divided we fall, united we stand tall.
